Cash is what you earn in matches. Gold bars are what you spend on skins. You trade one for the other at the in-game exchange, and the rate is not fixed: a bar can cost several times more one week than the next. Timing the swap is the whole game here. Once cash becomes bars there is no undo, and bars never turn back into cash.
Every major update wipes your cash and your level progress. Whatever cash you are still holding when the cycle ends gets exchanged into gold bars automatically at that day's rate, so it pays to track the exchange rate in advance and find a more favorable time to invest. Gold bars carry over.
The Gold Market itself sells cosmetics only. Nothing in there changes how you play, only how you look doing it. What is on the shelves and what it costs is up to BULKHEAD, so check the list above for the current line-up.
What you can do here
The chart is the exchange rate, one point per day, straight from the game. Hover to read any day, drag the bar underneath to zoom in, and click a point to pin it. The header then tells you how far the rate has moved since that day, which is the quickest way to check whether you should have swapped earlier.
The converter turns bars into cash at today's rate, and with a day pinned it shows the same amount at that rate too. Type in how many bars you have and the market above greys out what you cannot afford yet and tells you how many bars short you are.
Every skin opens a preview, and Check Price takes you to its own page with a cost history, so you can see what that skin would have set you back on any day since the market opened.
