Where to Find Clay in Grounded 2

Clay in Grounded 2 can be found early in the game, typically around wet, muddy areas near water sources throughout Brookhollow Park. Some clay nodes can be collected almost immediately after entering the open park, especially near puddles, streams, and drainage zones. You’ll need at least a Tier 1 Omni Shovel to harvest it.

What Does Clay Look Like?

Clay appears as reddish-brown mounds embedded in damp soil, usually close to bodies of water. You’ll start spotting these when you first emerge into Brookhollow Park. They’re often partially submerged or located near muddy creek beds and shallow ponds.

What Is Clay Used For?

Clay is essential for crafting key early-game structures like:

  • Clay Foundations
  • Clay Ramps
  • Storage Chests

As your base expands, clay becomes crucial for garden upgrades, support structures, and decorative items that require durability and structure. It’s one of the first materials worth gathering in bulk.

Tier 1 vs Tier 2 Clay Deposits

Most clay deposits can be dug up using the Tier 1 Omni Shovel. However, some tougher clay nodes require a Tier 2 Omni Shovel. These are usually found in more dangerous or remote areas of Brookhollow Park and will become accessible later in the game after upgrading your tools.

How to Track Clay Easily

To make finding clay much easier, scan a piece of it at any Resource Analyzer found at a Ranger Outpost. Once scanned, you’ll be able to toggle clay tracking on your map, revealing nearby clay deposits. This becomes especially useful when gathering large quantities for bigger builds later in the game.
