Where to Find Ectoplasm in Enshrouded

Ectoplasm is obtained in the Fellhollow region by becoming Soulscourged and defeating Lost Soul enemies, which have a high chance to drop it, with Ghost Wolves guaranteeing drops, making Lake of Lost Souls the best location due to its enemy density and nearby Purification Pool.

Ectoplasm is a critical endgame resource introduced with the Fellhollow update and is required for crafting Sacred Oil, which is necessary to create the highest-tier gear currently available in Enshrouded.

Best Way to Get Ectoplasm

The most efficient way to farm Ectoplasm is by intentionally becoming Soulscourged and defeating the enemies that spawn while affected by it.

Step 1: Head to the Best Location

Travel to Lake of Lost Souls in the Fellhollow region. This is the best location because Lost Soul enemies spawn frequently here, Rotsworn enemies are also present, and a Purification Pool is located nearby, allowing you to quickly cleanse after farming.

Step 2: Become Soulscourged

Locate Soulscourge, which appears as red, corrupted water filled with swirling souls. Stand in it until your Soulscourge meter fills completely. Once full, you will become Soulscourged for 300 seconds.

Step 3: Wait for Stronger Enemies to Spawn

While Soulscourged, Lost Soul enemies will begin attacking you. Defeating them has a high chance to drop Ectoplasm.

If you remain Soulscourged for longer, stronger enemies will start appearing. Eventually, Ghost Wolves will spawn, and these enemies guarantee Ectoplasm drops, making them the most valuable targets.

Step 4: Defeat Enemies and Farm Ectoplasm

Stay Soulscourged for as long as you can safely handle. Defeat as many Lost Souls and Ghost Wolves as possible to maximize your Ectoplasm gains.

Step 5: Purify to Reset

Once you’ve finished farming or the enemies become overwhelming, head to a Purification Pool. Break the vines around it with your weapon and interact with the pool to cleanse yourself. This removes Soulscourge and allows you to reset the process and fast travel again.

Alternative Method: Withered Hearts

An alternative, but much slower, way to obtain Ectoplasm is through Withered Hearts. These drop from Rotsworn and Rotridden enemies throughout Fellhollow. As you defeat these enemies naturally, you’ll accumulate Withered Hearts over time.

You DO NOT need to be Soulscourged to find these enemies.

Once collected, return to your Kiln. Every 3 Withered Hearts can be processed into 1 Ectoplasm. This method is not efficient for targeted farming but works as a passive source while exploring or completing other objectives.

What Ectoplasm Is Used For

Ectoplasm is primarily used to craft Sacred Oil, which is created at the Brewing Cauldron using Ectoplasm, Necrotic Bonemeal, and Clay Vessels.

Sacred Oil is a required crafting component for creating the highest-tier gear available in Enshrouded, making Ectoplasm an essential resource for late-game progression.
