Lore

There is no 'Rat Master' position in the Black Knights or Zamorakian Magi. 'Rat Master' is very-much self-appointed.

Rats would come and go through the banquet hall, the dorms and the library, and Skrexis would watch them. There was one rat - fat as a carnivorous chinchompa - that led them. One eye was scarred, and its claws were long, made for gouging. Skrexis monitored the rats' movement, noting when they would be in each room. The rats had a timetable; they were predictable.

Skrexis waited for the fat, leader rat in the kitchens. He sat, cross-legged, with a saucepan in his lap. A wave of rats poured into the kitchen, saw Skrexis and flooded back out. But the fat rat, it approached, one eye locked on the seated man.

Skrexis wished there was someone, a bard perhaps, to have seen that fight. It was for the ages. The two combatants scratched, lurched, swung and skittered, but Skrexis emerged victorious. Bloodied, he approached the rats who had been watching from the doorframe.

Skrexis had earned the title of Rat Master, by way of combat.
