Water Filters are a required crafting component for Phase 4 of 5 – “Beverages” in the Flickering Flames Project. While they can spawn in Industrial areas across multiple maps, the most reliable and low-risk way to farm them is on the Buried City map using a fast, repeatable route.

By running a completely empty custom loadout with a Safe Pocket, you can secure Water Filters quickly without risking other gear, making this method ideal for all players.

Why You Need Water Filters

During Phase 4: Beverages of the Flickering Flames Project, you’ll need to collect the following materials:

Water Filters are one of the rarer items in this phase, which is why targeting specific Industrial buildings is far more efficient than looting randomly.

Best Map to Farm Water Filters: Buried City

Water Filters spawn in Industrial loot zones, and the Buried City map offers two excellent locations close together that allow for fast checks and quick resets if needed.

Running this route correctly can secure a Water Filter in just a few minutes per run.

Step 1: Prepare an Empty Loadout With Adrenaline Shots

Before deploying, create a custom loadout with nothing equipped so you retain access to your Safe Pocket. This ensures that once you find a Water Filter, it’s protected even if you die.

It’s also highly recommended to bring Adrenaline Shots crafted from your Medical Lab. Use them to move faster between locations, then place them back into your Safe Pocket so you don’t lose them if eliminated.

Step 2: Check Su Durante Warehouse First

After spawning into Buried City, head toward Su Durante Warehouse, located on the upper-left side of the map depending on your spawn.

Once inside, go down the stairs and enter the door on the right. Check the small red drawers and nearby shelves, then move upstairs and search the additional drawers on the upper level. A Water Filter can spawn here, but this location is sometimes looted early by other Raiders.

If it’s already looted, don’t worry — the second location is very close and far more consistent.

Step 3: Move to the Maintenance Depot

From Su Durante Warehouse, head toward the Maintenance Depot on the lower-left side of the map.

When you arrive, you’ll find two Industrial buildings. Focus first on the building on the right-hand side, as this one most commonly contains a Water Filter.

Inside, immediately check the red drawer on the left and then search the shelves nearby. This spot has a very high success rate. If you find a Water Filter, place it straight into your Safe Pocket, then quickly scan the rest of the room for any bonus loot.

You can also check the second building for additional items, but the right-hand building is the priority.

Step 4: Secure the Filter and Surrender (Fast Method)

Once the Water Filter is safely in your Safe Pocket, you can press Escape and select Surrender.

This instantly ends the run but allows you to keep anything stored in your Safe Pocket. It’s the fastest way to reset without running to extraction and makes repeated farming extremely efficient.

If you find additional items you want to keep, then extract normally instead.
