The Smoke Grenade Blueprint in ARC Raiders drops from Residential Containers – not Industrial like other grenade blueprints. You’ll find it in wardrobes, suitcases, desk drawers, and trash cans on any map during any map condition.

Here are some tips for optimal farming:

  1. Target loot areas with dense residential containers
  2. Run naked with Adrenaline Shots for maximum speed
  3. Check drawers, cupboards, suitcases, desks and even trash bins
  4. Farm during Night Raid for boosted drop rates
  5. Don’t waste time on Industrial containers – this blueprint doesn’t drop from them

The Smoke Grenade is one of the most useful utility items in the game. It creates a thick smoke cloud lasting 20 seconds with a 7.5m radius, blocking line of sight for both ARC machines and Raiders – essential for Assessor breaching, reviving teammates, and covering your extraction.

Once you have the blueprint, you can craft Smoke Grenades at your Utility Station (Level 2) using 14x Chemicals and 1x Canister. Check our Event Timers to track Night Raid conditions and head to our Interactive Maps to plan your residential loot routes.

Why You Need the Smoke Grenade Blueprint

The Smoke Grenade is one of the most versatile utility items in ARC Raiders. It creates a thick smoke cloud on impact that lasts 20 seconds with a 7.5m radius, blocking line of sight for both ARC machines and other Raiders. That’s a massive window of cover – enough to revive a downed teammate, breach an Assessor chamber during Close Scrutiny, disengage from a PvP fight, or cover your extraction.

Smoke is essential for Assessor Breaching to find the Dolabra Blueprint.

Without the blueprint, you’re stuck buying Smoke Grenades from Apollo for 3,000 credits each – and his stock rotates, so you can’t always count on having them. With the blueprint learned, you can craft them at your Utility Station (Level 2) using just 14x Chemicals and 1x Canister. Chemicals are common in bathrooms, medical areas, and janitorial closets, and Canisters show up in garages and near mechanical debris – both easy to stockpile. Once you have the blueprint down, you’ll never run dry on smoke again. Check out our Loadouts page for builds that make great use of Smoke Grenades.

Where to Find the Smoke Grenade Blueprint – Residential Containers

Here’s the most important thing to know: the Smoke Grenade Blueprint is a major exception to the usual grenade rules. Most grenade blueprints – like the Showstopper and Blaze Grenade – drop from Industrial Containers (breachable rusty boxes, red lockers, green pull-out drawers on shipping containers). The Smoke Grenade Blueprint ignores all of that. It lives in Residential Containers, sharing the same loot pool as Tier 2 attachment blueprints like Compensator II, Angled Grip II, and Silencer II.

That means you need to be looting wardrobes, cupboards, suitcases, desk drawers, kitchen cabinets, and trash cans – the kind of stuff you find in apartments, residential buildings, hotel lobbies, and village houses.

The good news is that it can drop on any map during any map condition, including standard Day Raids. The bad news is that the Smoke Grenade Blueprint has a noticeably lower drop chance compared to the attachment blueprints in the same Residential pool. You’ll probably find a few Silencer II or Compensator II duplicates before the Smoke Grenade Blueprint shows up. Patience is key here – the more Residential containers you open per raid, the better your odds.

Smoke Grenade Blueprint can be found in residential containers like drawers in Grandioso Appartments.

Best Locations to Farm the Smoke Grenade Blueprint

Since the Smoke Grenade Blueprint drops from Residential Containers on any map, your goal is to find locations with the highest density of residential-style loot in a compact area. The more containers you can hit per raid, the more rolls you get at the blueprint. Here are the best spots across each map.

Blue Gate – Village

The Village area on Blue Gate is packed with residential containers. Houses are full of wardrobes, cupboards, desk drawers, and trash cans – all part of the Residential loot pool. You can chain-loot multiple buildings in a tight loop without covering much distance, which makes this a great speed-farming spot. It’s also relatively low traffic compared to the Security Wing or Ancient Fort, so you’ll have less competition for containers. During a Locked Gate event, this area gets even better since the entire map’s loot table is boosted.

Village in Blue Gate is dense with residential containers.

Buried City – Grandioso Apartments and Plaza Rosa

Buried City has some of the densest residential areas in the game. Grandioso Apartments is a multi-floor building loaded with wardrobes and desk drawers. Plaza Rosa is another solid residential area nearby with plenty of suitcases and cupboards. You can also swing through the Santa Maria Houses – access it from the roof and you’ll find wooden drawers and office desks inside.

Grandioso and Plaza Rosa are good residential areas in ARC Raiders.

Dam Battlegrounds – Ruby Residence and Testing Annex

Dam Battlegrounds has residential pockets scattered around. Ruby Residence has a solid cluster of wardrobes and drawers. The Testing Annex is another sneaky option – while it’s primarily known as a medical and research area, there are desk drawers near the main entrance that are part of the Residential container pool. We actually found a Smoke Grenade Blueprint in a Testing Annex desk drawer during a standard Day Raid, proving you don’t always need a special map condition to get lucky.

Testing Annex is a good spot to farm Smoke Grenade Blueprint.

Stella Montis – Lobby and Business Center

Don’t sleep on Stella Montis. The Lobby and Atrium areas are full of blue suitcases, trash cans, and desk drawers that all count as Residential containers. Community reports suggest Stella Montis has solid drop rates on consumable blueprints in general, making it a great map to run naked loot loops – especially if you’re looking for the Smoke Grenade Blueprint alongside other residential-pool blueprints you might still need.

Stella Montis Residential Areas like Lobby and especially Atrium can be great for Smoke Nade Blueprint farming.

Best Map Conditions for Finding the Smoke Grenade Blueprint

While the Smoke Grenade Blueprint can technically drop during any map condition – including basic Day Raids – your odds go up during 2x Major Map Conditions. These are the conditions that boost rare blueprint drop rates across all container types.

  • Night Raid: Your best bet for farming Residential blueprints. Night Raids boost rare drop rates across the board and many of the best residential farming spots (Blue Gate Village, Buried City apartments) are easy to navigate at night. Check MetaForge Event Timers and jump in whenever a Night Raid is active on a map with good residential density.
  • Electromagnetic Storm: Another strong 2x Major condition that boosts drop rates. A solid backup if Night Raid isn’t available. Just remember that the Snaphook and Surge Coil Blueprints will take some of the RNG rolls away from Smoke Grenade Blueprint.
  • Day Raid: It’s possible – we found one on a standard Day Raid – but the drop rate is noticeably lower. If no Major Map Conditions are active and you’re itching to farm, it’s still worth running residential loops, but don’t expect fast results.

Alternative Ways to Get the Smoke Grenade Blueprint

Residential container farming is your primary method, but there are a couple of other avenues worth knowing about.

ARC Surveyors

ARC Surveyors (the big heavily armored rolling bots) can drop blueprints when destroyed. The Smoke Grenade Blueprint is in their potential loot pool. Don’t go out of your way to hunt Surveyors specifically for this, but if you see one with a blue glow during your residential runs, take it out – it’s a bonus roll at many blueprint in the game.

Surveyors have a chance to drop various blueprints.

Weekly Trials

Smoke Grenade Blueprint can also show up as Weekly Trial reward. Make sure to max out your weekly trial scores (reach at least 4,000 points in each trial) to get the maximum rewards and thus multiple chances to roll a blueprint as a reward. One of those could be the Smoke Grenade Blueprint, you never know!

MetaForge Marketplace

If you’re desperate and don’t want to wait, you can trade for the Smoke Grenade Blueprint on the MetaForge Marketplace. The median price has been around 400 Seeds recently, though expect prices to fluctuate – especially when events like Close Scrutiny drive up demand for Smoke Grenades.

Tips for Finding the Smoke Grenade Blueprint Faster

1. Run Naked Residential Loops

Strip your loadout down to just a few Adrenaline Shots and sprint through residential areas. No weapons, no armor – just speed. Hit every wardrobe, suitcase, desk drawer, and trash can you can find. If you get the Smoke Grenade Blueprint, stuff it in your Safe Pocket immediately, then surrender and requeue. You lose nothing and keep the blueprint. This is the fastest way to maximize your rolls per hour.

Naked Loadout includes the Safe Pocket to secure your blueprints.

2. Prioritize Night Raid on Residential-Dense Maps

Check the MetaForge Event Timers for Night Raid on maps like Blue Gate or Buried City. The combination of boosted drop rates plus high residential container density gives you the best statistical odds.

3. Don’t Confuse Container Types

This is the number one mistake people make when farming the Smoke Grenade Blueprint. If you’re looting breachable rusty boxes, red lockers in industrial zones, or green pull-out drawers on shipping containers, you’re wasting your time – those are Industrial containers and the Smoke Grenade Blueprint simply cannot drop from them. Stick to wardrobes, cupboards, suitcases, desk drawers, kitchen cabinets, and trash cans in residential areas.

Dont ignore the trash bins as they count as residential containers.

4. Check Desk Drawers Everywhere – Even in Non-Residential Buildings

Here’s something a lot of players miss: desk drawers count as Residential containers even when they’re inside buildings that don’t feel “residential.” The Testing Annex on Dam Battlegrounds is a great example – it’s a research facility, but the desk drawers inside it are still part of the Residential loot pool. If you see a desk drawer, open it. It doesn’t matter if it’s in an office, a lobby, or a medical wing.
