Plan your ARC Raiders Outpost before you spend the materials
Expanding the Outpost costs real materials, and a room cannot be moved once it is built. The planner lets you try the layout first, in 3D, with the same rooms, doors, and furniture slots the game uses.
Everything you place is drawn from the actual pieces, so a Winter Table takes up the same floor space here as it does in your Base Room. When the plan looks right, the Summary tab tells you what to farm.
Using the Outpost Planner
The view starts on the whole Outpost. Use the switcher in the top left to jump into the Base Room floors or any room you have added, and turn Slots off when you just want to look.
- Rooms: Click a glowing doorway on the Base Room and pick which room goes there. Your first room can hang off the front door or the side door, the second takes the other door, and the third attaches to the far end of either room.
- Furnish: Click any slot to see every piece that fits it. Slots are sized by floor space, so a 2 x 3 m slot takes anything 2 x 3 m or smaller, and wall and ceiling slots only take wall and ceiling pieces.
- Stations: The eight Workbench slots in the Base Room take your crafting stations. Each station can only be placed once, so dropping one on a new slot moves it. With a linked Embark account, Sync loads your real Outpost, benches and all.
- Summary: Totals for the layout: Outpost level, pieces placed, and every material you would need to build it all, with the item icons you know from the database.
Your work is kept in this browser as you go. Save to My Outposts keeps it on your account, and Walk it drops you into the same layout in first person.
Outpost expansions and what they cost
You can add up to three rooms, one per expansion, and each one raises your Outpost level. The level is what unlocks the next tier of the Research Station, so room order matters less than getting all three built.
| Expansion | Where it goes | Rooms offered | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Front door or side door | Timeless, Chalet, Panoramic | 3 Steel Cable, 20 Sheet Metal, 3 Cable Stripper |
| 2 | The other Base Room door | Timeless, Chalet, Panoramic | 3 Epoxy Bucket, 35 Planks, 3 Hand Drill |
| 3 | Far end of room 1 or room 2 | Timeless, Chalet, Panoramic, Studious | 40 Sheet Metal, 3 Laser Level, 3 Insulation Roll |
Every room has 22 furniture slots and the same slot sizes, so pick by looks and by where you want the extra space. Studious only shows up for the third expansion. Floor plans for each room are on the Rooms page.
Example scenarios
Example Scenario: You have 20 Sheet Metal and want to know whether to spend it on the first expansion or on furniture. Add a Chalet on the front door, open Summary, and the materials list shows the Steel Cable and Cable Strippers you still need before the room is possible.
Example Scenario: You are deciding between Timeless and Panoramic for the side door. Add one, press Walk it, stand in the doorway, then come back and swap the room from the Rooms tab. Your furniture in the Base Room stays where it was.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the furniture pieces come from?
Each piece needs its Design first, which you learn like a blueprint. Of the 100 Designs, 73 are found Topside, 22 come from Outpost upgrades, 4 from the Frozen Trail Pass, and 1 from the Collector DLC.
Can I plan a room I have not unlocked yet?
Yes. The planner does not check what you own, so you can lay out all three expansions and use the Summary tab as a shopping list.
Does saving change anything in my game?
No. A saved outpost lives on MetaForge only. It is a snapshot of your plan at the time you saved it, which you can walk, share, or come back to, and the game never sees it.
What does Sync bring in?
Your whole Outpost: the rooms you have built, every piece of furniture, your benches at their real tiers, and what is on display. Guns on weapon racks and trinkets on shelves show up when you select the piece.
Why can I not rotate a piece?
The game does not allow it either. Each slot has a fixed facing, and a piece either fits the slot or it does not.
